MANILA, Philippines — Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Raphael Lotilla has submitted his courtesy resignation, heeding President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for all Cabinet members to vacate their posts.
“In order to allow the President to have a free hand in reorganizing his Cabinet for the remainder of his term, and to express my full support for his Presidency, I have respectfully submitted my resignation as Secretary of Energy effective upon the President’s acceptance,” Lotilla said in a statement on Thursday morning.
The energy chief added that his agency is “one with the President” in achieving cheaper, reliable, and sustainable electricity.
Marcos’ order to “recalibrate” his administration came following the midterm polls, which the chief executive said was necessary “to realign government with the people’s expectations.”
